laundry times…
the other day i went to the laundry mat to dry some clothes. we line dry our clothes when we can, but a couple weeks of rainy days makes us start to smell. i don’t mind the laundry mat, i grew up going to them. i brought some work and settled it. it only takes 24 minutes to dry so it’s no biggie.
about 18 minutes into the drying process, i began to smell a horrifying burning plastic smell. i looked over and a dryer had caught on fire. the attendent went to get the other attendant and they pulled the sheets out and started stomping on them. it smelled SO bad.
earlier in the day elijah and i were thinking about bringing our laundry to get washed and folded at a local laundry mat during the winter months. turns out the woman who was washing the clothes was actually the attendant on duty. nuff said. also, after only being there about 30 minutes, i was inspired to start a ‘people of laundromats’ blog. is that mean?
Plant some Trees!
In honor of Earth & Arbor Day, Figs & Ginger wants you to get out there and plant some trees! Get involved with a local Environmental Organization, or round up your pals and get digging.

Rules & Regulations
- Plant your own tree! Don’t just stand next to one someone else planted, an already growing one, or the same tree with all your friends rotating for photos. We can tell, your karma will be ruined, and you will feel guilty about taking advantage of a small business just trying to do some good.
- Giveaway is valid from April 1-30 2010.
- Pictures must be submitted by May 1st or earlier. Late submissions will be appreciated but not rewarded. Sorry!
- You may only get free jewelry once. In other words, if you plant five trees we’ll love you five times, but you won’t get five free necklaces.
- If you and your 14 friends plant only one tree, the person who submits will only get one piece of jewelry. If you and your 14 friends plant 15 trees, each person who submits a photo of them planting a tree with their own address will receive one piece each. We’re trying to get as many trees planted as possible, so get ambitious out there!
- No returns or exchanges with this giveaway at all. Sorry, we can’t feasibly accept them. We’re just a little company run by my wife and I.
- We’re not responsible if you hurt yourself planting a tree. So be careful with those shovels and hoes!
- These will ship by the end of MAY via First Class Mail. So NO tracking. Feel free to email us AFTER July 1st if you don’t receive your package, but before then we’ll be busy making these lil’ guys and may have to ignore your email, sorry!
- Have fun and tell your friends! The point is to reward you for being good to our Earth.
